BUSINESS WATER SUPPLIERS

Business water suppliers are split into two groups, those that were formed from the old regional water authorities that existed before deregulation, and those that can be considered new entrants to the market. The suppliers created from the regional authorities generally kept their names, such as Anglian Water. They are responsible for the water setup in their respective areas and as result they are much larger companies.

Water Plus are the largest business water supplier in England with an approximately 400,000 customers. Founded in 2016 as a joint venture between United Utilities and Severn Trent. Castle Water, the second largest water supplier in England with over 350,000 customers.

Business Stream are the non-domestic side of Scottish Water. They are the largest business water supplier in Scotland and have significant market share in England.

Wave were founded out of Anglian Water in 2008 and initially entered the Scottish business water supplier market. Since 2017 they have been picking up market share in England's deregulated water market. They claim to have over 300,000 customers across the UK.

Everflow, founded in 2014, like the other water suppliers created at that time, they initially targeted the Scottish market. Whilst they don't enjoy the market share of suppliers like Water Plus and Castle, they are the largest supplier that were not founded out of one of the large incumbents.

United Utilities do not bear the name of a regional water authority, although they were created in 1995 from North West Water. Water2business were born out of a joint venture between Bristol Water and Wessex Water in 2000.
